There was certainly a lot of anticipation for Christmas morning this year. There was some trepidation as well though. Due to his upcoming move from a "baby" room to a "big boy" room, many of Connor's gifts were related to the new decor of the room and some of the necessities he will need (i.e. bedding, a lamp, and furniture - which has yet to be found). That doesn't tend to make a kid too happy when opening gifts on Christmas morning. Still, Santa came through for Connor with a few toys to make him smile. And Dada and I weren't complete fuddy-duddies. Connor was not too excited with the jeans and sweater we got him, but loved just about everything else. Shortly before Christmas, Dada and I found some bubble wrap in the basement. I jokingly suggested that we wrap it up as one of Connor's gifts. After thinking about it a bit, we decided that as much as he loves the stuff, it was worth a shot. Of course, it was one of his favorites. And it's no surprise that Connor was thrilled when he saw that Santa put Ratatouille in his stocking.

After presents were opened, Nanny treated us to some biscuits and gravy. That, of course, was followed by a viewing of Ratatouille. Before long, it was time for Connor's nap. While he was down, Nanny, Dada and I made preparations for dinner, perused the ads for tomorrow's frantic shopping day, and patiently awaited the arrival of Derrick, Julie, Caleb and Abbey from the Land of Oz. The snow delayed their travel a bit, but they finally arrived safe and sound. Once we got their truck unloaded and their bundle of presents situated under the tree, we sat down for our Christmas dinner. When we were through, we headed into the front room to finish opening presents. We had overlooked a gift from Aunt Tin this morning, so Connor opened it to find a medical bag just for him. He quickly began playing the part of doctor, practicing on the closest person to him - me. At least it occupied him while everyone else continued to open presents. For Connor, the biggest present was saved for last. I headed down to the basement first, with video camera in hand, so I could get Connor's reaction when he saw it. As a combination Christmas/birthday present, Nanny and Butch got Connor his very own Jeep. When he saw it, he walked right up to it and climbed on in, almost as if that's exactly what he was expecting.
