Discovery Zone

While visiting Brrrian, Jules and Kenner, we made a trip north to check out Discovery Gateway. Kenner had been before and was a pro. He knew right where to go and what he wanted to do, and was able to show Connor the ropes. The first stop was The Garden, where the boys enjoyed sticking balls into various tubes to see where they'd end up. I think Brrrian had just as much fun as they did. Their favorite was the one with hurricane force air inside that shot their balls straight up in the air.

The next stop was the Kid's Eye View. This is Kenner's favorite spot. He headed straight for the "play house," wherein lies his childhood dream: a kitchen (which doesn't thrill his daddy all that much.) He immediately started putting "food" in the refrigerator, cleaning dishes, etc. Connor, on the other hand, found a "fire engine" and played dress up with that. Then he wandered over to the construction zone, where he stacked "bricks" and worked some of the machinery.

Before long, it started getting pretty crowded in that area, so we moved down the road for some water play and to check out a "farmhouse."

One highlight for us as spectators was when the boys were playing in an area specifically for toddlers. No shoes were allowed. Connor quickly found an incline where he could "snowboard." Kenner watched Connor slide down a few times before giving it a shot himself. Unfortunately, Kenner didn't realize that Connor's socks were "no-skid."

Another highlight for me in particular was catching Kenner on film, looking so much like his daddy. His shirt says it all.

We eventually moved on to the second floor, where we checked out Media Central. The boys were fascinated seeing themselves on TV when they were posing as news anchors. But that paled in comparison to the last stop we made. They got to sit in a real helicopter and work the controls.
