Lone Star
For the first time since he started the academy last November, Dada's schedule happened to work out where we were able to take a few days over the Memorial Day weekend to get away. It was planned very last minute, and almost fell apart when Connor was diagnosed with pneumonia. But it all worked out in the end. Connor had been asking for a few months, and finally got his wish - we went to Nanny's house.
We left bright and early on Saturday morning. I've probably said it before, but whoever invented the portable DVD player is a genius. Books and games only go so far on a road trip for a 2 year old. So, between The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., and Finding Nemo, we made our way down to Texas. Connor was very excited to see Nanny, Rea, Butch, Arba, and especially Sugar Baby. She did a pretty good job helping him release all his pent up energy from sitting in the car for so long.

One of his favorite things about Nanny's house is that he can run around in the backyard all he wants. Until our backyard gets some work done to it, he's limited to the front yard. He's recently become fascinated with "buggies." He likes to pick them up, play with them, let them crawl on him, etc. Ew! I found a poor little rolly-polly in his pocket one day.

Even as much as he LOVES being outdoors, he also loves to read books. He found the perfect lap to sit on to read some books while we made dinner that night.

The next day, we took it pretty easy. Nanny had a great idea to take Connor to a park and feed some ducks. At first he wanted to throw handfuls of bread crumbs at a time, but Nanny and Dad helped him learn about patience. Afterwards, he found a playground and was in heaven climbing, sliding, and running away from Mommy.
