The Word of the Day
Connor beat a word to death today, which may not surprise many of you. The word is "no." Laugh, snicker, whatever you feel appropriate. However, he was not using it in the context you might think. Rather than using it as "a negative word to express dissent, denial, or refusal" in the way that most toddlers use it, he was using it to define the pretty, white flakes falling from the sky . . . otherwise known as snow.
Although he's seen it before, it seemed like it was a first for him. He was truly mesmerized by it. After saying "no" a few times (and he actually says it more like "noooo"), he would then say "code" (a/k/a cold) and "brrr." On a whim, I bundled him up in his new winter coat, mittens and hat to take him outside for some play time. Once outside, however, he didn't want to leave my arms. Daddy took him from me and attempted to stand him up in a pile of snow. Connor immediately put his muscles to work and pulled his legs up so Daddy couldn't set him down. Little stinker.
