Enough Already!
We are SO glad that February has come to an end. Started out on a bad note and ended on a bad note. Of course it wasn't ALL bad, but there have been so many health issues in the family! Connor was due to start his new daycare this week, but because he's been sick, we didn't want him to start in with a new group of kids while his immune system was down. Lucky for us, Nanny offered to come to the rescue. She arrived yesterday with her poodle, Sugar Baby, in tow. The day was uneventful for the most part. We put Nanny to work right away and forced her to make her infamous fried chicken for us. After we ate and cleaned up, we let Gunner inside. He had spent the better part of the day in his dog run. Once inside, he immediately started chasing Sugar Baby around. Since Connor was crawling around, I didn't want them rough-housing around him, so I banished the dogs to the backyard. In mere seconds after going outside, Sugar started yelping. We jumped the gun and started reprimanding Gunner, guessing that he had stepped on her foot or something. After all, he outweighs her by a good 85 pounds or so. But she continued to yelp, and began limping back to the door. Nanny picked her up, and we could immediately see that something was wrong with her back leg.
Let's just say it wasn't bent in the right direction. Daddy made a phone call, then he and Nanny were off to the animal hospital. A few xrays, a couple of hours, and many dollars later, they came home. Sugar's leg was dislocated. All they could do for her for the time being was drug her up (which they did . . . real good) and splint her leg. It looks like it's going to require surgery. Daddy commented that Nanny should save her money and just tell them to cut it off and rename her Tripod. Mean Daddy! This morning Connor watched from his highchair as Sugar limped around, grinning and thinking she looked pretty funny. Silly baby!
